How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is different from how it was in that, I am able to take care of my needs easily. I am also focused and ambition on meeting my goals. I have been able to allocate some amount of money on my investments which are; poultry farming and keeping goats. So far I can not complain because I get money from selling milk and eggs.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal is to start a business probably selling maize. This business is a good one because most of the people are not doing it. I intend to buy maize at a cheaper price and sell them later on at a higher price when they will be in demand. I am a patient person and waiting for the right time for me to operate the business will not be a problem.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am able to take care of my needs easily. I was also able to buy goats and started poultry keeping with the transfer. So far I can not complain because I have been able to sell milk from the goats and eggs as well. Generally, my health has also improved because I eat a well-balanced diet by including milk and eggs in the diet as well as buying other kinds of food with the transfer.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My expectation in the next six months is to be a known entrepreneur in our village. Apart from the projects that I run currently with are; poultry and keeping goats, I want to start selling maize in bulk. I will be buying them when the prices are low and wait for the prices to rise them sell them. This will bring more income which will improve my living standards.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Currently, my life is different from how it was in that, I spend so much less on food but I am still able to eat well more than even before. Previously, I used to buy eggs daily for our use at home and this really costed me. I was able to start a poultry project and from this, I get a good supply of eggs for use as food and even sell the excess to my neighbors for an income. I am more peaceful that I no longer worried about how to feed my family unlike before where I could only depend on casual jobs which were unreliable to provide for my family.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I do not have a new goal. I still want to continue buying animals because when I have then under good care, they will increase in number and there are various benefits like getting milk and plough my farm. I will rest from the hard work of tilling my farm by myself.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Before I started receiving the transfer, I never had any hope of ever owning any livestock since I majorly engage in casual labor as my daily source of income. The proceeds from this casual jobs were meager that could barely sustain one with the basic needs hence thinking of having livestock for rearing only remained a dream. When I started receiving the transfer, I was able to save and bought a young calve and sheep. The biggest difference, therefore, is that I am so happy to own the animals that I had yearned for a long time and I have understood that no situation is permanent.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect my life to change in that, I will have added more animals and that the few that I recently bought would have grown. I also expect that the production from my farm for both milk and eggs would have improved and that it would lead to improved profits from proceeds after the sales. I pray that all these will help me improve my financial strength, that I can look after my family well. I expect our general lifestyle to have improved for the better.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Currently, my life is different in that I able to earn an income from the business and using the profits to meet the basic needs and even pay school fees for my child in school unlike before where I could struggle so much and the little I could get was only enough for food.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal is to join a merry go round group in our village to save some money and expand my existing business.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I was employed as a house worker. This casual job would earn me a small income which was not enough to cater for food and school fees for my child. My child would be sent home to collect school fees and this was affecting their performance. When I started receiving the money from GiveDirectly I started my own business which I earn a daily income. Therefore the biggest difference in my daily life is that I am able to buy enough food for my family and at the same time pay school fee using the profits from the business hence I no longer struggle so much. My child is no longer being sent home for school fees and the performance has improved so well. I am so grateful for the support.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect in the next four to have expanded my business using the saving from the merry go round group and this will earn me an extra income to meet other basic needs.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I had faced in life was the difficulty in raising up my daughter as a single mother. My boyfriend disowned me immediately I got pregnant. I was not only stressed then, but was also subjected to hard labour in order to earn a living.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when we meet together as a family, and my daughter narrates to us her school life experiences, her aspirations and what she intends to do to achieve her academic goals.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I am planning to spend my transfer on buying oxen and an ox-drawn ploughing machine. I intend to use them to plough all our pieces of land, hence boost our farming activities. I shall also use them to plough for our neighbors at a cost, thus increase our sources of income.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
The achievement I am proudest of in life, was my ability as a single mother, to enrol my daughter to a better post-kindergarten school with the little income I got while working as a househelp.
