How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I set some new goals when I heard that I will receive money from GD. The news brought happiness to me. My life was a misery. Nothing was working in my life and GD gave me an opportunity to change my life. I thought of increasing my food production. So I bought farm inputs such as 2 bags of fertilizer, hoes and seeds. I also thought of building a new house. Of course I will build a house next year because the rainy is fast approaching. I bought 25 iron sheets and hired some people to mould bricks on my behalf.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
The organisation is making a positive impact to rural communities. I have benefited a lot from this program. I even bought fertilizer which I couldn't have bought on my own.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used my second transfer to buy 5 bags of maize. I completely had no food in my house. I bought some few bags of maize when I received my first transfer. The bags I bought with my second transfer was just an addition. I also hired some people who moulded bricks for me. I am planning to build a house next year. I also bought 2 bags of fertilizer.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment i received the airtelmoney message i was super excited and i could see all my dreams coming into reality , to be honest madam GiveDirectly has done a great job by helping us the poor and we really grateful also don't stop here go as much as you can to help those you haven't reached yet.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Our household relay on farming so we own a small piece of land mostly we get handful products because we lack money for adequate farm inputs and in most circumstances we suffer with hunger, with this programme coming in and us securing food we see that the biggest difference will be having adequate food for the rest of the year.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
We have received the money on 06/09/2021 and we just cashed it out yesterday morning,so far i haven't used any of it because i wanted to come home and plan accordingly after cashing out. Right now my major priority is to buy food we plan to buy 15 bags of maize at K8,000 each, and that will cost me almost K120,000,i plan to enhance my standard by buying matress that will not cost us more than K60,000 ,we plan to use the remaining amount to buy basics like soap, utensils and othe foods apart from maize.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money is an opportunity for me to build a better house and buy food for my household
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am pretty happy every time of the day, but maybe mostly in the morning when I wake up and I am thankful for good health
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest harship has been not having money for buy fertilizer which results in low yields hence not having enough food. Another is my house, I have temporarily built this one I'm living in because my previous one was badly damaged that it was dangerous because it would fall on us.
