How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
"In the coming year and even beyond I hope that I will accomplish my goal of building a new house for my family. I am very optimistic that before the end of this program in my community my dream will become a reality. For this reason, I have started buying some building materials such as zinc and roofing nail. Additionally I am also planning to start a little business using some of the money. With that it will be a source of income that will continue to support my family."
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly has been doing well from the beginning of this program until now. They have never failed on their promises to us. Some of us were literally giving up on life because of poverty and the day GiveDirectly entered our town our hopes and dreams are lighting up now. We are very fortunate to be part of this unique program. Their love for humanity is very much remarkable. Therefore I have not seen anything that GiveDirectly is not doing quite well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
"Before I started receiving transfers from GiveDirectly, it was always my dream to built a new and bigger house for my family that everyone will have a room of their own. Presently, where we are staying is not spacious to accommodate my five children and I, we all are sleeping in a one bed room house. This had been so much embarrassing to me as a Mother. But I couldn't afford the money to built a bigger house. Happily with my transfer I have decided to change the living condition of my family by building us a new house. This is the goal that I promised to achieve by all cause through GiveDirectly financial assistance."
