How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Yes, GD directly gave me hope. I started thinking of doing a business when I heard that I will receive money from GD. I am happy that I implemented by business idea and it is working for me.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GD is doing very well by providing cash transfers to a number of recipients. The money is really helpful. People's lives have changed for the better.

I used my second transfer to start a business. I am currently selling fish and able to support my family. I also bought school uniforms for my children. I also used the money to buy beddings such as matress and blankets. I also bought 4 bags of maize for food processing.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was at the farm when i got the money alert message. I was so happy because during that period i depended on buying daily food for my family due to lack of enough money. I immediately bought 7 bags of maize after cashing out and my family is now food sufficient. Thank you so much
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I used to do fish selling business but used up the capital due to meet family basic needs. The biggest difference since i received the transfer is that i have been able to restart my fish business in which i am making at least K8,000 per order. I am now able to feed and cloth my family. Thank you for the support

I used the money to buy 7 bags of maize, mattress, clothes for my children, and started a fish selling business where i make atmost, K20,000 per order

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I will use the money to build a new. As you can see my house is a grass thatched house and every year i have to renovate in terms of new grass and new plastic which is tiresome and requires money, that is why i want to build a new house with iron sheet so that i can rest .
What is the happiest part of your day?
In the last 6 months in was happy because i had enough food in my house from my last harvest. Last season i managed to harvest 5 bags of maize and life was good
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Life is hard because i dont have enough food to eat.im a fisherman and my family depends on me and the only way to find money to feed my family is going to the lake, now business is slow and life is hard. Some days we can stay without food
