Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy the moment I received money from GiveDirectly. I took the initiative to inform my wife who was equally very much excited. I also informed some few neighbours who were very happy as well
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference is that assets bought. I had been unable to do this because the amount of money that I got would just be enough to feed my family and buy clothes for my child. I am happy that I was finally able to add the assets that I added and became more independent financially
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used KES 45000 to buy heifers and used the remaining amount to improve my farming. We made a decision to buy the livestock since we did not have any and it was the most viable investment we could make. This investment shall see us meet the cost of any emerging needs with much ease.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means a constant milk supply to my family of 3. Ever since I got married a year ago, I have been purchasing 1 litre of milk daily from the vendors at Labotiet centre for KES 60. This is way expensive for me, as I solely depend on the power saw business to earn income. Woefully, this power saw machine is for hire so, I only part with 25% of the total income earned from the work done. Furthermore, this job is seasonal and I have to stay at times cashless hence not being able to provide for my family. I have been yearning to purchase a dairy cow but unfortunately, finances could not allow it. With the Givedirectly transfers, I target to purchase a dairy cow at KES 30000 and I will be delighted that my dream will come to pass as my household will be food secure.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Who does not want a companion? Not me! My wife has been bringing joy to my life ever since I married her in February 2021. I attribute my success to her, first, because she gave birth to my only son and secondly, for constantly being my support system. I have found peace even after the woman I had previously cohabited with ran away, for reasons not known to me to date.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Since I depend on a hired power saw business to support my family of 3, 25% of the total returns is what I earn. This is regardless insufficient to cater for the household food as well as attend to other personal needs such as medications and emergencies. As consequence, I have to work for extra hours as well as attend casual jobs such as weeding the farms to earn a surplus. This however disheartens me since at the end of the day I am drained energetically hence have no humble time with my family.
