How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Previously it was a hustle for me to find food to eat everday in my household. Breakfast was a rumour. Today that is not the case. I eat enough three times a day everyday and am a very happy person. Thanks to Givedirectly
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion there is nothing wrong with what GiveDirectly does and there is nothing they need to change in how they work. It has been quiet a good experience and am very grateful.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Using my second transfer i bought six bags of maize. I used the other money to give labours to mould and burn bricks for me so that i can build my house. I saved the other funds to use to pay the builders who will build and roof the house

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have been living in this village since 1996. Every year I engage in farm and other pieceworks to supplement the harvest. Despite all this effort, I have never managed to make this amount of money. Now I believe that I have the chance to build a comfortable house. My main worry has always been a good house as there is no husband who would help in doing that. The other part of the money will help us afford some iron sheets, clothes for the children and other household items.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Since I am a single parent, I get to struggle sometimes to find enough food. This situation usually worries me as this shows am not caring the children properly. Hence, my happiest part of the day is when I get to know that I have enough food for that day. This makes me happy as I know that my children will be happy to eat good food and worry about other things than food.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship has always been affording a good sleeping place. The house we are living in leaks during the rainy season and we struggle with moving items from one corner of the house to the other. This is so as plastic sheets to complement the grass is a bit expensive for us. Hence, some household items always get damaged during rainy season.
