How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My new goal is to be able to be able to clear dowry for my son who recently got married. How I plan to do this is to be able to save up from my poultry keeping business. The proceeds that I will get from this business shall be used to buy livestock that will then be taken as payment for dowry by my in laws. Payment of dowry is a thing that cements relationships and I cannot wait to see this actualized
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly did well by enrolling everyone without biasness. The kind of enrollment where every household was visited in house was so commendable. I did not see anything with GiveDirectly that I thought did not go well. Everything was seamless and I would encourage them to continue doing the good work that they did
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used KES 25000 to buy a water tank and used the remaining amount to buy chicken for keeping. I had for a long time been forced to travel for long distance in search of water in rivers and streams even during rainy season something that was exhausting to me. I did not have enough money to be able to buy a water tank as the money that I could get from small scale farming was just enough to feed family. I am so much grateful to GiveDirectly for the support that I got.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The joy we had on our faces was evident in my children's faces. I was so excited to discuss with my husband how to spend the money. We went ahead and commenced on the plans we has shared earlier on.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily is the transformation that I have witnessed in my household so far. I am grateful to Givedirectly for allowing me to participate in this project which has allowed me to implement all that I had wished for.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
On receiving the first transfer I had a long to do list.I prioritized on purchasing a dairy cow worth KES 30,000.For the longest time possible we had been buying milk from my neighbourhood.I am grateful that currently we are milking two kitres of milk per day and has allowed cut cost of buying milk.I also bought chicks worth 15,000 which I can aell eggs for catering for the basic needs if my family.I obtained a battery which I normally use to charge power. For a long period of time, we had in darkness and especially when kids close 30k.TTheining amount, I used in buying clothes for both myself and my family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have children in different schools and lack of money forced me to sell all the livestock I had to pay for their school fees. My family became food insecure since I sold the cow which used to provide milk for my family to pay school fees. This has rendered us dependent on vendors for food and getting a full meal in a day is a challenge due to lack of money and I am worried about the nutritional status of my children due to insufficient food. So when I receive this transfer I would like to start an income-generating activity that is poultry farming to assist me in paying school fees for my children and be a source of food. I need a capital of about KES 40000 to start with.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Give directly could not have come at a better time than this. When I heard that we were going to receive this grant my life was filled with joy and happiness as my long-time dream of poultry farming will be fulfilled. I had the ambition of starting it but due to lack of money, I have not been able to start the business.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest challenge is financial constraints. I do house construction around the village and to get a consistent job is a challenge and my pay is usually insufficient to meet all my household needs. To supplement my income I do repairs of padlock which is also not consistent and to get such jobs is usually tiresome as I have to move from house to house looking for it.
