How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I live in a very old and depleted house. All of the walls are falling apart. Therefore, building a house and establishing a new business has become my newest goal. GiveDirectly, through this program, has given hope to extremely poor people like us. Moreover, GD has been very honest in delivering cash to well deserved households. I don't see anything that GiveDirectly has not been doing well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
All along my desire was to build a house and also start a new business. Hence, when I received my transfer, I bought 3 bundles of zinc for $31,500LD. I also used portion of my transfer to buy zinc nails and mixed nails for roofing purposes. Lastly, I bought 1 carton of chicken to start my sell and pay business. Eventually, my sell and pay business will provide additional income for me to cater to my family basic needs.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was in dire need of finances to start a retailed business. I also needed money to build my house. With this in mind, I received a text message early that morning while I was on my way to the farm. I immediately called my son to read the text and suddenly it was a huge amount received from GiveDirectly. I was overwhelmed with joy and started singing a new song. With GiveDirectly's transfer, I could set up my new retailed business.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
In time past all of the burden of feeding our home and providing extra care for our family has been on my husband's shoulders. However, the biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving transfer from GiveDirectly is that I am able to earn my own money and also provide food for my household. I am so pleased to have benefited from this project that has helped improve our livelihood.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have always dreamed of establishing a new retailed business. Hence, when I received my transfer, I bought two bags of rice (25kg) to be sold by cup. I also used portion of the money to purchase few packs of candies (pepper mint, butter candy, stick candy etc...). The remaining portion of my transfer was used to buy a bag of flour, 6 gallons of oil, yeast, biscuits etc.. I am so grateful to GiveDirectly for their financial assistance that has made me a renowned business woman in this town.
