How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is really different at the moment. I was among the poorest people in the village before receiving the transfer. My children were malnutritioned, they walked barefooted and wore torn clothes. On top of that, the house that I lived in was too small and the roof was leaking. I also did not own a cow of my own. At the moment life is really great courtesy of the transfer. My children are well clothed and well fed. I also own a dairy cow whose milk has helped reinstate the state of health of my children. I also built a bigger house with transfers and we now sleep comfortably.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well by giving money to empower us to meet our needs. People have really done marvelous projects with the transfer. I would recommend that GiveDirectly visits us regularly to check on development projects that we did with the transfers and reward those who utilize the money in the best projects.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent KES 30,000 of the second transfer to buy a dairy cow. I then used KES 3000 to pay my children's school fees I have 4 children in primary school. I bought 2 mattresses and blankets worth KES 6000. I also bought a goat worth KES 4000, two bags of maize worth KES 5000, chicken worth KES 3000 and then the rest went towards finishing a house that we had built using the first transfer.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that these transfers have enabled my family to feed well and good clothing,built a house and concentrate on my work instead of casual labor.

The moment I received the money I had mixed feelings of shock and happiness because I had not received such an amount before.

Receiving this money is a great news to me, I am planning to spend my transfer to build a new house and buy a dairy cow.

The happiest part of my day is in the evening , this is the time that I have time with my children after coming back from school.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is poor harvests due to drought in our area and often we do not have enough food for my family and that has always been my challenge.
