How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I am a single mother of four sons and in a long time, I have had the dream of buying my own land. When I received the first transfer I decided to keep them as I waited for the second transfer as a top up to enable me to buy the size of land that I wanted. The second transfers came in time and I topped up and bought two points of land at KES 80,000 in a nearby village. I must say this was one of the biggest milestones in my life, for one i was now feeling safer since the place I was living in was quite insecure coupled by several break-ins whenever i was away since it was quite deserted and adjacent to a river .The transfers also helped me get medication, I had suffered from chronic brucellosis for over 6 months,i was weak and could not work well.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has really well done wellthrough empowering people to do several projects, others have built houses, educated their children and even bought assets. I must say our village has been greatly transformed.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spend my second transfer on buying land after topping up KES 30000 on the first transfers.I also bought clothes worth KES 4000 and KES 8000 went to buying medication since i was suffering from brucellosis. The remaining amount went to buying food, toiletries and other household items.

Five years ago, I bought 0.1 acres of land which is hardly enough to sustain my entire family. I am now planning to use the transfer from GiveDirectly to buy another productive land and use it to improve my family.
