How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Solving a school fee problem for my child who was joining form one has not given me peace of mind. It used to worry me because I knew that my source of income from a casual job would not cater for the secondary education needs. Secondary fees are a lot of money that I can not raise in my casual job. The money I received from GiveDirectly help me to clear the fee payment and even buy the required education materials. This has enabled my child to obtain the education I always wanted for them to have.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well by giving unconditional cash and also nonrefundable. This gives us a chance to make our own choices on how to spend it. In the other hand, I do not see anything that GiveDirectly has not done well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent part of my second transfer to pay schools fees. My first born was joining form one this year. My source of income is random casual jobs in ploughing my neighbor's farms. This is not enough to cater for food and now fees for secondary school. This has been my biggest worry to fail as a parent to pay the school fees for my hardworking child. Thanks to GiveDirectly because they came on the time I needed help. I managed to pay schools fees on time and also to buy the necessary items required in joining secondary school. The other part of my transfer, I decided to buy some sacks of maize to add to what I had in store so that it would last us a little longer. My last harvest was not so good since my maize plantation was affected by a disease.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have a spacious kitchen before I used to cook in a small thatched house which was stressful . I also have a heifer which I didn't have before and I'm so great full this support.

The moment I received the transfer I felt so happy because I knew I would be able to build a spacious kitchen and also to buy enough food which was a problem to get it.

I spend my first transfer on buying a heifer, I utensils, food, and also bought building materials to build a spacious kitchen for the family, I used to cook in a small thatched house before.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
We so happy with GD. This is because we shall buy our own cow on receiving the transfer. Live has never been smooth since we have been relying on purchased milk for our household use. The cow will serve several purposes including sign of prestige and security for financial demands.
What is the happiest part of your day?
After successful completion of the day's work at the late afternoon, I find ample time to socialize with my neighbors and get some rest. Accordingly, I would remain informed on various aspects of the society while restoring energy for the following day's activities.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship we have faced in life is inadequacy of arable land - the tillable part of our one acre piece of land is just 0.4 acres. Accordingly, we get little produce that is hardly enough for us. Since most of our land is rocky, we find it most challenging to rely on sibsistence farming alone for survival.
