Once I receive this money, I'll be able to acquire a plot of land in a safer area, using KES 40,000 of the transfers for this purpose. The remaining funds will go towards constructing a new house and investing in three goats and three sheep for long-term stability. This transition promises a brighter future, as I'm exhausted from the perpetual anxiety that accompanies every rainfall in my current location.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Over the past six months, I successfully harvested maize from my 2-acre farm, yielding KES 30,000 upon sale. With this income, I acquired 3 goats at KES 3,800 each and 4 goats at KES 4,000 each. Witnessing my goats roaming in my compound fills me with joy, as their presence assures me of long-term security in the event of any urgent needs.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Living beside a river in a flood-prone area poses my greatest challenge. Each rainfall brings flooding, disrupting my life. Relocating to a safer place has been a long-standing wish, yet financial constraints hinder this aspiration. Despite planting maize on my two-acre farm in hopes of funding the move, the floods washed away all prospects. However, with the impending transfers, I cling to hope that achieving this dream is within reach.
