How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
There is a difference because of the pool table which I bought approximately three months ago. I have been able to generate e a lot of cash as compared to what I used to get in the past. Like I have mentioned above, I have to make sure that I save as much as I can so that I can be able to further expand the business by buying a second table. Apart from that, I used the other cash transfers to buy a few household items which I did not have and some of those items include gas cooker, cooking pots tea table and a carpet. I also used another portion of the money to sort my rental arrears that amounted to approximately Kes 70000.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life?
I want to save as much as I can so that I can be able to buy another pool table which I can use to generate more cash going into the future. The tables are quite expensive so for me to be able to purchase a second one, I will need to make a lot of savings from time to time so that this dream could also become a reality one of these fine days.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent the fifty thousand transfers on buying a pool table which I use to run the pool table business. I had a conviction for a long time that this business could be the best investment for me because I really like such kind of investment ideas. I am happy that I followed my dreams and gotten to this level of success because so far I have been able to get consistent and reliable income from the business on a day to day basis.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently different from how it would have been had I never received the transfer since I have been able to boost my business which was almost collapsing. Because of this, my daily income have increased and I have been able to start saving some money on a daily basis which I will use in case of an emergency.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life?
At the moment, I do not have any new or additional goals in my life that I didn't have before receiving the transfer. The only goal I currently have is to grow my business empire so that my daily income will increase. By doing so, I will be able to save some money that I will use to pay for my dowry when I get married. This business will also help me cater for my family needs on time and make sure they they lack nothing.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of my most recent transfer to revive my business which was almost collapsing due to lack of enough stock. I had been experiencing a tough economic situation which made me use all of my profits on my daily needs since this business was my only source of income. Due to economic situation in my country, the prices of charcoal had increased making it difficult for low income earners to afford them. Because of this, I spared some amount and bought a gas since refilling it is quite cheaper and it lasts longer. I also bought two chairs since I did not have them and visitors usually had to sit on my bed and I was not always not comfortable. Finally, I saved the remaining amount so that I can use them in case of an emergency.

Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
My goals are now to grow my business with more equipment like a fridge that will boost my profits. I also hope to run my business without major challenges with the stock that I purchased. This will ensure that I can sustain my living and have a stable income that will have me avoid to borrow loans.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am now debt-free with no pressure to clear any debts. My business is also stable now as compared to how it gone down.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent my transfers to repay a 7000 KES debt that I had. I had borrowed this money to boost my business. I sell fruits and fruit juice here in my neighborhood in Mlango Kubwa village, Mathare. I have done this business for two years now. My business had gone down and I had been recording losses for a while. I needed to boost this business and to pay my rent. I also spent part of the transfers to boost this same business, by adding more stock. I have hope that my business will now do well as I even hope to purchase a fridge and other equipment for this business, with my coming transfers.
Describe the moment when you started receiving transfers. How did you feel?
It was on a Friday when I received my transfers, and I was at my fruit and fruit juice business. I was not close to my phone at that time, when a fellow group member came to my shop to ask me if I had seen the message from Give Directly. I quickly checked my phone and I saw the message. I was so happy as I knew there and then that I would finally repay my debts. I checked with my other group members too if they had received the transfers, and I immediately started planning on how I would spend the money.
