How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I have a cocoa farm that I am working on at the moment; seeing my cocoa producing by next year and above will be my biggest accomplishment. That means my effort did not waste and I got my benefit from the work I put in.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
The money GiveDirectly sends for us to transform our lives is a very good thing. The respect they gave us is also good. They did not choose for us, they gave us the opportunity to choose for ourselves on how to make our lives better.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used 20,000LD to purchase 8 bags of cement for my house renovation process. I also spent 3000LD on white paint to beautify the house and the rest of the money was kept for the plastering workmanship and upkeep. I am grateful to GiveDirectly because the money they sent me has transformed my old house to a new one. I decided to use the money on my house because the mud was falling off and it was looking ugly and unpleasant. My friends had no respect for me because I was living in an old house; but I now have good face and respect in my community.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I plan to build a structure for my family; for the past years since we came from Ivory Coast we have been staying in my mother house and that has cause my siblings to stay away because when ever they come for visit no where to stay.
What is the happiest part of your day?
For the last six months nothing has brought joy or happiness to me because things has been very difficult on me; my younger brother also lost his legs two months ago from accident with all these things no happiness.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The challenges we are face with are food and finance; my spouse has been out of job for over two years and our only source of income is subsistence farming.
