What did you spend your third transfer on?
I received my third transfer when my thatched roofed house was leaking, so together with my husband, we build an iron sheet roofed fully furnished with all the amount.

What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer on buying building materials at 36,800 KES which I'll use to set my own compound after the August elections, two bags of maize 5,100 KES, paid 3,000 KES deposit for a solar lamp, used 2,000 KES to start a grocery (vegetables, tomatoes and onions) and fruits (oranges and mangoes). I then used the rest of the cash on food and other little house errands.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that am now having great peace with my family now that we are no longer worried of how we'll get resources for building a house so that we get off the beach. Thanks to GiveDirectly.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer on buying a mattress at 5,000 KES, school uniforms and school bags for my three children at 2,000 KES, paid 1,000 KES their school fee then used the rest of the cash on daily foods for the house. Am now happy that my children dress very smartly while going to school and they also eat good and enough food. I also get good night sleeps now that I have a very soft place to sleep, unlike before when I used to sleep on a mat.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was so happy together with my children when I received the transfer because it would help us get the things we never had.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Our biggest hardship is on paying school fees for our children in primary school. Most of the times they get sent away from school due to unpaid fees.
What is the happiest part of your day?
When at my place of casual work,I feel happy since by the end of the day I'm able to get some small money to buy food for the family. This is normally in the morning.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money is like a miracle to us,not in our wildest dreams had we dreamt of such a kind gift. Our problems will definitely come to a stop.
