How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently different in that I live a better life because I have a dairy cow. I [produce milk that has improved my children's health. They consume part of the milk and sell the rest in order to buy other household necessities, mainly foodstuffs. Initially, I would not find milk to buy as all my neighbors preseed selling all their milk to a processing plant rather than individuals like me. They do so because of better prices at the processing plant. I am now part of them reaping from the high prices.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
My opinion is that GiveDirectly served us so well because they gave me cash. I am so glad that I was able to address immediate needs by buying foodstuffs and growing more for the future. This would not have been possible without the cash aid that I received at this particular time.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the money I received on buying a cow and two sheep. I then addressed a really pressing need at that moment. I bought maize for household consumption to combat the famine that was ongoing at that time. I then leased a piece of land and bought farm inputs. I grew maize on it to ensure enough food for the household in the days to come. My own piece of land is too small to support my household maize requirement.

My happiest part of the day is usually in the evening when I have known that my children have had something to eat during the day. That is also the time I thank God for his provision.
