What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
My house is small and enough for us, it is embarrassing that brothers and male relatives have nowhere to sleep when they visit me. This makes me to prioritize building a better house when I receive my transfers. I will budget KES 40000 of my money to build a two roomed house. I am lucky to have canal water close to me, this will supply water to my farm. I will plan KES 30000 of my transfer to prepare and farm my land. This will help me produce more maize crops. With this, I will be no longer struggling to provide for my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
It was on January 2024 when I bought four goats from my farm proceeds. My mother gave me a piece of land last year and I decided to venture into maize farming. We were blessed with plenty of rains and I had a bumper harvest. From my half acre piece of land I harvested 15 bags. This came as a surprise for me and I was so happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I am a single parent and the sole breadwinner of the family. Putting food on the table for my family of three is not an easy task for me. When I wake up early in the morning the first thing that come to my mind is where to find casual job to help me support my family. In a good day I earn about KES 400 which is still not enough to meet our basic needs. We live a life of hand to mouth, I am left with nothing to save neither to invest. My house is small and grass thatched, my ambition is live in a better house but financial muscle is my challenge.
