What does receiving this money mean to you?
"I'm currently staying in my family's house but, the confusion is too much for me. My step-grandmother who owns the house I'm living in keeps telling me to move out. The moment we have a misunderstanding, she throws my things outside. I've become fed up with the entire situation because I am a grown woman with my own children. So, I would love to build my own house and peacefully move out for good. I've already started with the house foundation but the lack of money has slowed the process. Give Directly Cash Transfer would be invested into a zinc and concrete structure for myself and my children! I plan to sell dry goods like lappas, slippers and other items that really sells fast because, the profit would enable me to cater to my children needs and provisions for the house."
What is the happiest part of your day?
"In recent times, nothing specifically has happened for me to be happy about. Notwithstanding, I'm very happy today because of GiveDirectly's arrival. During the early part of the day, some of my neighbors and myself were going to the bush to fetch wood so that we could have them sold to be able to have a meal for the day. Whilst on our way, we saw GiveDirectly staffs entering the town on motorbikes. This brougt me so much hope that, as I am speaking with you right now, I haven't cooked all day. It's because I didn't fetch wood. Yet, my heart is joyful for the fact that I'm being enrolled into this program!"
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
"My major challenge is not having a stable place to call my home. As a result of this, my children are staying very far away from me! People with good hearts are the ones who have taken up the responsibility to enroll my kids to school. It breaks my heart everyday that I can't give them the support they need from a mother! Money is a serious issue at home. Because, if I have the financial means of supporting myself and my children they wouldn't be from one person to the next in the city. I am so hopeful about the Cash Transfer because with it, too many things would be accomplished in my life!"
