I feel so proud of my self for the greatest step I have made which is to purchase a goat for rearing. In my life, I never imagined that I would own any livestock in my life because I couldn't afford such things considering my meager earnings. I don't have a reliable source of income and what I normally get is usually spent on food. I feel proud of myself because there is the hope of growing economically and becoming a better person through the goat that I just bought. In addition to that, I look healthier and happier because I was able to go to the hospital. I was finally attended to because I now had the means to pay for the medical services.

For the next four months, I have an additional goal of saving the coming transfers so that I can later purchase a cow for rearing. With the cow, I'll be assured of a constant supply of milk both for consumption and for sale after it has given birth. This will save me from the cost of buying milk. Apart from that, I'll have additional income form the milk sales.

I am grateful that I am alive and healthy today. A few months ago I was very sick. I had lost hope since there was no one to help me pay the hospital bill that was increasing each day. I am glad GiveDirectly came into my life because through their help I was able to pay for the hospital the bill without taking loans or bothering my relatives. My life is currently different from how it was four months ago because l am making a lot of profit which is able to sustain me as compared to before when I was not able to get enough profit and this was leading to too much struggling to make ends meet.

In the next for months I am planning to save money and begin cattle keeping as a future investment. This will help me pay school fee for my children who will still be in school by the time my cattle shall have matured and ready for sale. The fact I am a widow should not be a hindrance towards giving my children the education required to make them better people in the society. I am very optimistic that with the investment, I will sail through in life.

The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have managed to boost my business of selling small fish by adding more stock. I was getting worried my business would collapse because I am used to taking money from the business without returning back. The business is now doing very well because of the added stock and I am getting more profit. The profit is my income which I am using to cater for my family needs. I am also able to save some money for my future investment from the profits as compared to before the transfers. Before the transfers, I could not save because I had very little income with many demands.

In the next six months l expect to have saved enough money and started cattle keeping which I am very sure will mature very soon and sell to get money to pay school fee for my children.

My life is currently different from how it was in that, I take care of my needs and emergencies easily. As a widow, meeting all my needs has been a challenge but with the help from GiveDirectly, I have been able to balance well and concentrate more on farming. Previously, I have to multitask forcing me to work more on people's farm so as to bring food on the table but I am glad that the yield that I got this time were sufficient to last us for a longer period as compared to before. Today, I no longer buy foodstuff especially maize but use the ones that I got from my own farm.

My new goals is to buy an animal probably a goat or sheep. I only have a sheep. I want to have more of them that I can sell later on and use the money to take care of my needs and emergencies.

The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months is that I was able to take care of my needs easily. I managed to pay school fees for my children and took care of emergencies easily. I want to buy a calf that I will rear within my compound which will act as a reminder of the changes that GD brought into my life. I am sure that the calf will eventually grow up and give birth to other young ones that I will eventually sell out and earn some profit.

With the transfers, I have had this new goal of stabilizing my family which has suffered for many years since I lost my spouse. I plan to do anything possible to help me generate some income for the family.
