How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Life used to be tough due to lack of enough funds to meet needs that we have. Now it is better and I am happier than before. When you have a family and you lack enough funds to meet even basic needs alone, it can stress you as a parent. I am happy that GiveDirectly funds gave us a boost financially and there is financial ease for me.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal in the next four months is to start a business. Am thinking of buying and selling clothes. I think it is a good business and it is something I like. I believe it will bring good returns.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Our economic status is different. We now own a piece of land and a cow bought with GiveDirectly funds. This is the biggest difference in my daily life. We used to live in a squeezed space but now we have enough space to even plant vegetables and rear a cow (we did not have the cow prior to GD funds). We do not incur the daily expense of milk because the cow gives us enough for consumption and sale to meet basic needs such as school fee for our children. We are happy and grateful for the difference that the transfer brought in our lives.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change for the better in the coming six months. Especially to discontinue casual work of picking tea leaves. The work is strenuous and time consuming not to mention the meager pay per day. I look forward to being free from casual work so as to plan my time to do my business and my own farm work. I believe it will be less strenuous with better returns.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
We never had a piece of land before and we were living in the rental houses in town with my family but at the moment we have paid half the cost of a piece of land which we secured in the village and this has brought a lot of happiness in our household. This is the biggest difference we have witnessed and we have a lot of hopes that we would complete the payment soon.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My expectation in the coming six months is that I would not be doing casual labor as I am doing now but will be doing my own work and generating my own income.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
We are currently buying a piece of land which we have started a serious subsistence farming in it. we have a plan to start building new houses within the piece of land once we complete the payment.
Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
I have a new goal to start a boutique as I was doing some other time so that I may start growing my profits out of it.
