How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different from how it would have been had I not received the money in that I have been able to practice advanced farming by employing machines in my farm. For a long time, the productivity of my farm had come down owing to the fact that I was practicing small scale agriculture that mainly served us on subsistence basis. Receiving this money has seen me till more land and therefore increase in productivity. This has led to an improvement in the living standards of my family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
The unconditional support received from GiveDirectly and the criteria for choosing the beneficiaries of the cash is one thing that I really liked about GiveDirectly. On the other hand, I did not find anything that I thought GiveDirectly did not do so well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent part of my second transfer to prepare my farm for planting, part of it to buy seeds and part of it to facilitate planting. I also remained with some little amount that allowed me to connect piped water to my compound. I had already registered to be one of the beneficiaries of the piped water and the money was only meant to connect water to my compound. I also remained with some that enabled me to buy cushions to increase the comfort in my home.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
We have been desiring to increase the size of land under cultivation. We have two acres of land in which we planted maize and potatoes and cannot sustain our polygamous family. Now that we will receive money from GiveDirectly, we will be able to increase it.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning. Waking up healthy and seeing a new day makes me happy and jovial.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in life is being unable to sire more children. I only sired one girl child which led my husband to marry a second wife yet we are unable to cater for their needs due to a small size of land.
