Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
I have repossessed my two pieces of land from the money lender after settling the debts I had. I plan to cultivate my pieces of land and I am hopeful that in 2 years time, I will be in position to buy a cow. Furthermore, all my family members now have descent clothes that has made me very happy. Previously, I didn't have enough money to settle the debts and we had old torn clothes.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received a message on my phone at round 5:00 am and I went a head to cross check. Upon checking, it was a message from MTN mobile money notifying me that I had received money from GiveDirectly. I became very happy and immediately I started to plan on when to withdraw it.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
When I withdrew my money, I decided to take part to settle all the debts I had and in so doing I was in position to recover my 2 pieces of land from the money lender. The money which was left I bought a bicycle, a bed, mattress, utensils and foodstuffs.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to build an iron roofed house. The one that I have is grass thatched which also leaks. Grass is scarce these days so finding it is so hard. I will also take care of the education needs of my children if I receive this money. I believe the future of my children will be better if I educate them.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the evening when my children are playing. It is a sign that they are healthy and they are able to help me when I need support.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is lack of land for cultivation. I am not able to cultivate and get food that can feed my family. In some instances, I have tried to borrow some piece of land from neighbours and friends but the space that I am able to get is always small or even none. What I do most of the time is casual labour just to find food to feed the family.
