How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Life would have been very different had I not received the transfers. I would not have managed to find money to build a new house for myself and support my family in a way I have done since I received the transfers. Before receiving the transfers, I relied on farming to support my family. When I have harvested crops, I could sell some of the crops to be supporting my family but the money was not even enough to save so that I should build a house. With the transfers I received, I now have an iron sheets roofed house which means my family has a decent place to sleep in. I also managed to buy mattresses for the family. All in all the money has changed my life as I now manage to buy everything needed for my family in good time.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly do well by giving enough money to us as part of the social cash transfers unlike other social cash transfers which give less money. For example GiveDirectly gave me k297300 as my second transfers which helped me to buy things like mattresses and to pay the builder who was building my house that I had some money left to use for other things at home. With the other social cash transfers, we could get as little as k20,000 which was just enough to buy food at home and not for one to manage to do a big thing like building a house. In my opinion, there is nothing done by GiveDirectly that is not done well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used the money I received during my second transfers to pay the builder who was building a house for me. After receiving the first transfers, I bought iron sheets, cement and also used the money to mould bricks so that I should build a house with the second transfers. I also used the money to buy mattresses for family of three members that now we have a comfortable place to sleep on. I have also kept some money to use to buy doors for the new house once they have completed building it.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
This money means a good house for me. The one I was a living in is no longer habitable due to heavy leakage. Hence this money will be used to build a better house and have a good sleeping place for me and my unborn child. I am glad the child will find a beautiful house and good clothes. I also look forward to do a small gardening business of vegetables.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am always happy when I have my husband by my side. This is so as am in a polygamous marriage and when he comes home am happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship is a good house right now. This room is never enough for a pregnant lady like me. So I struggle to stretch my legs and move around a bit when it's raining or too sunny.
