What does receiving this money mean to you?
My husband left me in 2019. He just picked his belongings when I was away and disappeared. Ever since I have been struggling to have food everyday as I now depend on casual labour to eaen some money. On a good day, I make at least MWK1000.00 which is usually used for a day since have a big family. Sometimes when there is no work, my son assists by going to the nearby lake to look for work and earn MWK500.00 so that we buy food. I believe the money will help me to build a better house as this on is dilapidated due to poor maintenance by our village standards. In addition, I will make sure to have a house with iron sheets, good household utensils and also extra clothes for my children.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am someone who enjoys seeing children happy. They are now looking up to me and this means I always have to provide for them or else they will be beggars. Hence, I am always happy when I manage to get food for that day for all of us.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
From the time my husband left, the house has never gone under any maintenance like we used to. Am now beginning to get worried that it may fell on us whilst sleeping or even the roof be blown off. The children I have try their best but the only money we find is just for food and nothing else.
