How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than how it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I have started a business of a retail shop. This has always been my dream to venture into the entrepreneur world. I do small scale farming and the harvest that we get is only for consumption and the extra we sell it to buy other basic needs including paying school fees for our children.when I received the second transfer I found it wise to invest on business. The profits that I always get I save it in merry go round group that we have started in our village. I used the returns from the group to pay school fees for my children in various schools. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has enabled us to invest on this amazing project and live a better life than before.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly does well by giving money to the poor in the community to build better houses and to buy dairy cows. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spend part of the money I received from GiveDirectly on Starting a new business of a retail shop. I had always wished to start a business. This will earn me an income to meet other basic household needs including paying school fees. The rest of the money I bought two goats. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has changed our living standard.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was at 6a.m in the morning while I was milking and I heard a message notification on my phone. I hurriedly milked my cow then went ahead to check the message and it was the GiveDirectly transfer. I went down on my knees to thank God and GiveDirectly for helping me at a difficult moment.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
My shop business was doing badly and was at the verge of closing down since every coin that I made from any sale was directed to my son's school fees. However, with the GiveDirectly transfer, I cleared my son's school fees and restocked the shop. I look forward to making profits that will plough back to the business and help me sustain my family. Thank you GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I was almost closing down my shop because of lack of money to buy stock and when I received the transfer, I restocked my shop. I also have a son who is in high school and the transfer enabled me pay his school fees.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have been dreaming of starting a small business to increase my income because depending on one income is not sustainable. I have two children who are in secondary education and this not easy to cater for.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is in the morning. It is at this time because God has enable me to see the next day healthy
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship we have faced in our life is payment of school fees. We have been depending only on my husband to cater for everything and the income he earns is not enough.
