Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I owe it all to GD. I have never been so happy in my life as compared to the time I received my transfer. I was down with so many challenges but the transfer came as a relief. I am so grateful because my life has changed.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The transfer has been a great push in fighting against poverty. My poverty level has been reduced. I now have enough food such that I am able to eat twice a day. In the past, I could only eat once or spend the whole day without eating. I also have nice sleeping place as compared to the past where o could only sleep on a mat. Of course I spent much on medical expenses but I have hope that I will build a house next year because I have bought the bricks using the money I received. I am so grateful.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I had so much to spend my money on but I was limited to do so because my child has been sick for so long. I used part of the money to cover medical expenses until my son died 4 days ago. I bought 35000 bricks and I am planning to build a house when I receive my next transfer. I took MK 100 000 to buy maize for food processing because I didn't have enough food. I also bought matress amounting to MK 60 000 and now I am sleeping on a comfortable place. I also bought myself new blackects. I also used the money to buy kitchen utensils such as plates and pots. Part of the money was also used to improve my house. I bought a plastic paper and grass. I have also been using the money to cover medical expenses for my child.
