How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has changed because I'm happy that my son who is in senior six level was able to report to school for third term on time and he is doing his final examinations. Secondly, paid off the debt which was burdening me. Before, these cash transfers, my son could stay home for two to three weeks after the reporting date because he waited for me to sell something like produce or livestock to get his fees and could not off set the debt because I had no money.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done well by supporting me to pay school fees for my son who is doing his final examinations for senior six. GiveDirectly has not done anything wrong.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I paid school fees for my son whose in secondary level, paid labour ( weeding and harvesting ) bought food and household goods( utensils ).

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is seeing that I was able to send my child to school with full fees and requirements as compared to before where I used to send her with less fees and she would be sent back. I am now confident that when the following term starts, I will still be able to send her as I am saving up money from the sources (farm produce and casual labor) I used to use to raise her fees.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
Having heard a notification on my phone, I checked and was so delighted to see that I had received money from GiveDirectly. At that moment, I felt extremely happy knowing that I would send my child to school with out any debt.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer Ugx 1000000 to pay for my child fees and buy some scholastic materials. She is in secondary two. I bought some house hold items such as utensils at Ugx 100000 I used Ugx 100000 to get treatment since I am always having some back problems. I am spending Ugx 200000 to pay labor that is helping me weed my farm crops. I am saving up Ugx 300000 that I will use to harvest my crops when the season for harvesting starts.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to retrive the piece of land that I leased. I will also buy a cow so that I can have milk.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the evening after I have had supper. It is even better if I am able to have both lunch and supper because I will be sure of strength to work the next day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is inadequacy of farm land. I leased a bigger portion of the piece of land that I had in order to get some money that would enable me to get treatment. Since then, I have very limited space to cultivate. This has some time resulted into food shortage because I do not farm as I used to when I had all my land.
