How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Although it is by the use of my first transfer, I am delighted to say that my life is currently at a good state as I bought a bed, mattresses that my family and I comfortably sleep on. Prior to getting this money, yes! we slept on mattresses but they were very old that they really needed replacement. This is because, at night they felt so dusty and stuffy causing unending flu and coughs. In addition to this, feeding in my family has also improved as I can now afford to feed my family on a balanced diet and timely meals. This is compared to before where we hardly had enough to feed on.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done well in my opinion by financially helping people in many communities. This has brought development in the areas in terms of farming, housing, education of their children among others. To me, it has also give me money that I use as I please. There is nothing bad that GiveDirectly has done.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
Although I have not yet started using my second transfer, I am planning to entirely use it for building a permanent house.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My daily life's greatest difference is having money at hand that has enabled me to spend as I wish. This has changed my entire lifestyle. I am now sleeping comfortably, feeding on proper diet, having decent clothing among others. Prior to receiving this transfer, I had to do casual labor to raise money to cater for my family needs. My sleeping conditions were as well not friendly as my children had no mattress. They slept on a heap of clothes for a bed but when I bought a bigger one, I had to give them the one I had been using.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my money, I felt so happy to hold such amount of money. This has never happened in my life.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer Ugx 500000 to get back my land that I had mortgaged earlier on. I bought bricks at Ugx 200000, bought some house hold items such as mattress, bed, bed sheets, blanket, utensils, clothes and food for my family at Ugx 500000. I am saving up Ugx 500000 that I plan to use for building in the near future.
