How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I am planning to build my dream house. The current one is too small and built of timber not even in good shape and condition. I will be able to do it since my daughter who is currently in college is clearing her last semester this year. The money meant for her school fees will be channeled toward the building project
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I thank GiveDirectly for the far It has bought us. I am happy about the transfers I received for the two months, a sum of Kes. 110000 which I could not get anyhow. May God bless you. On the other hand, I do not have any complaints at all since I have not seen any. Thank you so much GiveDirectly for putting a smile on my face.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent the second transfer paying school fees worth $ 400 for my two daughters. I am a mother of six, 4 girls and 2 boys. A family of 8 including my husband who is a farmer and cattle keeper. $. 150 helped with buying food, clothes, and household utensils, which had been a great challenge. Before I started receiving the transfer since I am a farmer and own 2 cows, I used to harvest maize from my farm, milk my cows and sell to my neighbors in order to pay for their schools. This was near impossible since we experienced a lot of droughts which resulted in a lack of milk and a good harvest. Thank you so much GiveDirectly for the support, you have put a smile on my face.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was early in the morning when my family and I were seated at the table taking breakfast. Then suddenly I heard my phone ringing and vibrating, on checking what the message was all about, that was when I realised that I had received money from GiveDirectly. I was so happy and excited because I knew that my prayers had been answered and that we would be able to put the money to good use. I then broke the good news to my equally happy husband.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life today is that I was able to clear the school fees arrears of my children who were still stranded at home. I was unable to pay on time since I depended on my farm to earn a living yet it was no longer productive. I feel that a heavy load has been lifted off my back thus I am relieved and happy. I am grateful for the unconditional transfer that uplifted our lives positively like never before.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Receiving money from GiveDirectly was the best Gift that came my way. This is because I was able to pay school fees for my children who were still stranded at home due to lack of school fees. Hence I used KES 50,000 on their school fees and upkeep. I was relieved because I knew that finally, they will be able to study comfortably without any obstacle whatsoever. Lastly, I used the remaining amount on foodstuffs. I am so happy and grateful that my children are all in school. GiveDirectly had lifted our lives positively thus we are forever grateful.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means better education for my four children in secondary and college levels. I sold a parcel of land and livestock in order to cater to their school fees. I am planning to use KES 60,000 to pay arrears and use the rest in purchasing enough food for my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
In the last 6 months, my daughter joined college to pursue an undergraduate degree. This gave me happiness as a parent because, in the future, she will secure a good job that will enable her to live a better life.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The challenge we are facing currently is financial constraints. All my resources goes into payment of school fees for my 4 children at secondary and college levels. Yearly, I spend KES 100,000 paying for their school fees. This is an uphill task because I do not have a stable source of income.
