How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different now in that, I have managed to acquire a piece of land that will help me plant, cultivated and harvest heavily. When I get a good harvest, I will be able to feed my household and sale surplus in order to buy things I do not have in my household. Prior to getting money from GiveDirectly, I used to farm on a very small piece of land that could not produce enough food to cater for the well-being of my family. This meant that before the next planting season, we could run short of food to feed on and resort to casual work in order to buy food. I also used to hire land to farm on which was so expensive and I could do casual work in order to raise finances for hiring land.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did an amazing job by sending me transfers. These transfers have liberated me from extreme poverty which I lived in prior to receiving money. GiveDirectly's mode work is so outstanding reason being, they move from household to household enrolling recipients into their program. This makes the Organization enroll the right people in the community and avoid registering ghost recipients. According to me, GD did everything very well and nothing went wrong.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer on purchasing a farm land, I used not to have enough land to farm on since we live in a polygamous family. I have seven children whereby the piece of land is too small to produce enough food for my family. My parents-in-law gave us one garden to share between me and my co-wife which was so small for both of us. Now that GiveDirectly blessed me with transfers, I have bought an hectare of land that I will help me produce enough food for both domestic and income generating.
