How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from the way it was four months ago in that I bought a few chicken for rearing with the previous transfers. Apart from that, I have been able to save a lot of money after selling a few in the market. I am targeting next Christmas holiday. I believe I will have grown the business and I hope the demand will still be high by then. I thank Give Directly for enabling me to start this business.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
For the next four months, I have an additional goal of starting a barbershop. There are a few barbershops in our area but the demand is so high. I believe that I'll be able to earn a good income from it since there is a school close to the shop where I intend to start this business. If all goes well I will be financially stable and meeting my family needs and goals will not be that much of a hustle.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I bought crossbreed chicken with part of the previous transfers with an intention to start a poultry farm. The crossbreed poultry grows fast and they earn a good income within a short period of time. I'm proud I have been able to save enough for the past for months. I will later use the money from the poultry business to start up another business next year. With the additional income from the shop, I'll have a reliable income which will sustain me even after GiveDirectly will have stopped sending us the monthly transfers.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect to have started a barbershop. I am planning to invest and expand my sources of income by all means. I believe I will be successful in achieving these goals because I know my risks are well calculated.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
These tranfers have changed my life over the past four months because they have made me much more independent as I am now able to do much more projects on my own without having to depend on my parents as I did before. Recently I managed to lease a piece of land to farm which I am sure will give me more returns in the next few months. Together with a few other projects that I have been able to do over the last few months, I know that very soon, I will have to entirely quit depending on hard labour jobs because I will have better sources of income.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I want to use my next two transfers to buy 50 chickens to start me off on the chicken project that I will launch soon. I have been planning to start such a project ever since I bumped into a friend who is reaping out of such a business and gave me a few tips and encouragement to try it out while I still have no formal employment.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Ever since I completed college, I have not been successful in landing formal employment which has forced me to turn to casual jobs which are mostly unavailable. This always leaves me with lot of time in my hands making me quite idle. I have never been the lazy type and staying idle was not the best part of my days. Over the last few months, I have been engaging in useful projects during my free times, all thanks to the transfers which have given me the opportunity to fund them. I have been busier at my farm which I leased using the tranfers and putting up the chicken pen for my upcoming chicken project. This has left me with not time to idle around and I am a happy man.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect that in the next six months, I will have opened my own egg depot where I will distribute the eggs and chickens from the chicken project I am currently putting together. This will mean a much better source of income for me compared to the current casual farm jobs that I depend on yet earns me just peanuts. My prayer is financial stability which I hope will be witnessed in the next six months.
