The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am now happy after getting financial support and bought the oxen. I believe and hope they will be of great help in ploughing my farm since the pair can take fewer days to plough an acre as compared to tilling myself. I believe I will get increased harvest products from the previous ones being that I prepared my farm in time unlike before when I used to do it myself. The oxen will also be helping in fetching water since the dams are very far from the village. Apart from that, I will also hire them to my neighbors at a fee and get an income to help me sustain my family needs without straining.

In my opinion GiveDirectly has really transformed my village in so many ways. I can first talk about the houses that now people in my community own. They are permanent descent spacious houses unlike before where we used to sleep in small leaking huts. It was so sad. Secondly, most of us now started various types of businesses. Which include; selling items in shops, salons, hotels, some bought motorbikes for carrying people and goods and at a fee and lastly buying and selling of the livestock in our local market. This has really helped us because most of us are now self-employed. We are now able to take care of our families financially unlike before. I do not see any part that GiveDirectly failed us. Everyone is grateful.

I spent part of my second transfer on buying a bed and a mattress at KES 10000. Previously I used to sleep on an old mat which was so uncomfortable. I then spent KES 3500 on preparing and cultivating my farm. It's so unfortunate that the rains stopped and we did not harvest. Apart from that, I saved 7500 in my bank account. This was purposely for any emergency. With the remaining amount, I bought enough foodstuffs that would take us long.

My child had reached the right age of joining a school, but I was worried about where I could get the money to take her to school. This is not the case anymore and I'm the happiest mother on earth because I was able to enroll my child in school using part of the first transfer. This is the biggest difference in my daily life.

I had just woken up and as I was brushing my teeth I got a message alert on my phone. I immediately rushed to my phone to read the message and to my surprise, I had received money from GiveDirectly. It was such a joyous moment. I shared the news with my spouse, and he was thankful too to GiveDirectly.

Previously I had a tin lamp for lighting but it was expensive because I had to budget for paraffin daily which I couldn't afford and at times I was left with no option but to use a torch from my phone. The moment when I received the first transfer I bought a solar lamp which I'm currently using for lighting. I find it cheaper since I don't incur any cost of maintaining it because it relies on sunlight for recharge. I also bought a dairy cow for rearing believing that after it has given birth I'll have more cows resulting in more wealth. This is because I can sell the calves in future whenever I have an emergency to meet. In addition to that, I used a portion of the money to enroll my child to a preschool because she had reached the of joining a school.
