Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When I got the money from Give Directly I was filled with joy and I thank God for GiveDirectly who came and changed my life through unconditional transfers.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
My life is currently different in the sense that I now own two houses which were made possible by the transfers that I received. I am glad that the kitchen has been completed and I have moved in. The other house is almost approaching completion and I am so happy my standard has immensely improve. Had it not for the money, I'm not sure if, as a family, we would have realized this dream. The money gave us a new look and a comfortable life which I wouldn't afford at my old age.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of my first transfer to procure materials for constructing a kitchen and a two-room house. Before we use to live in around grass touched house which was too old and had leaking roof. I also bought food as we had no food when I received my transfers.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have been yearning to build another house since the one I am living in is old and water oozes from the ground due to its state. Owing to the fact that I am old and weak, I am unable to work and earn money to build a house. I am planning to use approximately $3000 of my first transfer to build a better house and use the rest to improve it. Therefore, receiving this money mean an improved life and a better place to call home.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning after seeing another day in my life and being healthy. Since I am getting old, my body is too weak to work and therefore, I depend on my grandson to herd my livestock. So I spend most of my day doing household chores and having a rest at some point.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Since the demise of my husband more than 20 years ago due to unknown disease, I felt empty in my life. My husband became sick for a few months and later died while in hospital yet he used to be our guide in our every day's life in the family. I had to take care of the family single handedly yet I was getting old. The biggest hardship I had faced in life loneliness and at times no one to talk to since everyone is busy with their life.
