Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I went to a specific point to get network so i can see my messages and make calls. It was at that point I saw Give Directly's transfer message. I was so happy to receive this huge amount of money because my husband died one month ago. He was sick for 3 years and during the period of his illness, I have never received such an amount. Looking after him on a daily basis and seaking assistance from other family memebers was my routine. Following my husband's burial, I didn't know how to start a new life as I didn't have any money. My children tuition was dued and I could no longer get help from extended family members because they have already helped me during the funeral rites. The money from Give Directly was timely. I feel so blessed.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I am able to renovate my house and send my grandchild to school. It's just the the matter of time for me to have a house that is renovated. Without the money from Give Directly, I do not know if it would have been possible.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Although I have received my transfer, I have not spent it. I will spend my money on zinc. I will also use my money to renovate my house as it's leaking and one side is sinking. I will also use the balance money to pay my grandchild tuition. She has reached school going age and needs to be enrolled this academic year..

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My house is currently in a deplorable condition. I have always desired to do some renovation but I do not have the finances to do so. If I receive this cash transfer, I will use a portion of it to renovate my house and use the rest to pay the tuition of my grandchildren who currently reside with me.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My husband is very ill and can not presently do anything for himself. I do not have the finances to always take him to the hospital for treatment. Last month, a close family member visited us and took him to hospital. She paid all of the hospital bills in full which brought so much joy to me because I could not afford it.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My husband fell ill four years ago. He was the primary breadwinner of the family but due to his illness, I was forced to step up as the primary breadwinner. I have to take care of him because he can not do anything on his own now and also provide food for the family which is a major challenge for me. Due to this situation, we do not always have enough food to eat daily.
