Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I went to the nearby villiage to visit my mother. She and I was busy doing some home work when I received an alert on my phone. I was really busy, so I didn't considered checking my phone. Thereafter, I decided to go through my phone and immediately came across the message from Givedirectly. This was an exciting moment for me.With no hesitation, I went to cash out my transfer. I was excited for the first time to handle such huge money.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I am happy and confident of owning my own house, but before then, I never thought that I earn such money for myself
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I am currently renting a grass thatched house so I am saving my money to await the next transfer purposely to purchase zinc bundles and building materials to construct my own dwelling. Not having your own house is very challenging and the house itself is gradually falling to pieces which sometimes get my children sick due to the cold.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
"As is it now, my children are not in school. It's mostly off and on because of the current economic crisis in the country. When we have sometimes we enroll them, but when the following semester comes they are compelled to stay home because no money to continue. I really want my children to learn for their future so that they can fend for themselves tomorrow. Therefore, I'm really happy to know that there's help on the way! My husband and myself will definitely use this cash transfer for the children's upcoming school fees."
What is the happiest part of your day?
"My joy comes from seeing my children eating healthily everday but unfortunately it's not the case most times! I'm always happy when there's enough food for us as a family. Lastly, I'm happy when there's no confusion between me and my husband because sometimes he tells me not to visit my friends and when I go against his orders it brings noise in the house therefore, I do all I can so as to not have him angry. "
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
"My husband and myself are running a farm but it's really challenging because the ground hug can eat our crops. So, we end up having not much or very little produce from the farm and it is not sufficient to sustain us along with the children. The fact that the money is so small we don't get healthy food everyday. Our next challenge is with our roof. Our room and the hallway have been leaking since two months now and we haven't fixed it because of the same money issues!"
