Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I learned that I had received my first transfer at around 11 in the morning. That is the time whereby I felt my life had transformed completely because through the money I was so sure that I will achieve a lot. I was overexcited and blessed and I thank GiveDirectly for the support and for changing my life.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am now proud of the owner of the dairy cow and several goats. I opted to buy them because according to my understating, they have so many benefits as compared to the other domestic animals. Currently, my family enjoys milk which has even improved our health. Also in the few days to come, I am planning to sell the remaining liters to my neighbors and generate an income. This money will enable me to cater to my family's needs without straining and buy my monthly drugs on time. Being a widow has been a challenge to me and I am glad there is now a permanent solution to this. Also with the goats, they will be purely for any emergency that may arise, I will sell some and settle the bill.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of my first transfer on buying livestock more so two dairy cows and five goats. These have been the well thoughtful living assets that I have been longing to own but because of my low income, I couldn't afford to own even one. On top of that, I cleared the medical bill since I have been unwell for such a long time and I never had the required money to seek the medical attention. Also with the remaining amount of money, I am using it to buy foodstuffs for my lovely family.

I am an old woman who has been suffering from otitis media ( ear infection) for almost 20 years now. I have been seeking treatment from our nearby clinics but all has been in vain. Receiving this money means proper treatment. I am planning to spend 70,000 shillings on the medication in referral hospital. I hope that it is going to bear fruits and solve the issue which has been stressing me for long.Other than that, I will spend the extra amount to support my grandchildren on clearing their school fees balances so that they study with easy. I believe that they will pass with flying colours and have a bright future.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Evening is my happiest part of the day it is at this time when I have enough time to rest. Unlike in the afternoon when I am full of stress concerning my health issues.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Sickness has been my biggest hardship. I have been suffering from otitis media for 20 years now. This has deteriorate my health and finances too because most of the time I am in and out of clinics.
