How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Yes, I have a new goal of starting a business to increase my household income. From my last payment I was able to established a palm oil business for sale. Before receiving money from GD, my husband and I were a gardener. Garden work was the only source of income to support the family. We (my husband and I) have seven children and four are in school. There has been no enough money to send the remaining three to school. However, it is because of low income that I have decided to start a palm oil business with my last transfer to put all of my children in school.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Starting a palm oil business could not have been possible without GiveDirectly cash transfer. I think in my mind this is one thing that GD has done well. Because I didn't expect to have received such a cash. What GD is doing for us in this village is too great. Moreover, having a mobile money account was something that I never thought of. And it is because of GiveDirectly that I have one. Really, to admit, I am too grateful for this opportunity. It has empowered me enough to help my husband take care of our family. But when it comes to things that GD is not doing well, I am not aware.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent my most recent transfer on setting up a palm oil business. I have seven children and four are in school. It hurts me to see my other three children not going to school. When I received my last transfer, my husband and I decided for me to start selling palm oil for sale. And this decision was made just to improve our household income to support all of our children in school.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
My ears has always been up when it comes to GD transfers. One afternoon while I was doing some scratching around my house, I heard my neighbors talking about how they have just received their transfers, so I waited for my husband to return from where he went. When he came back we hurriedly ran to network area to check, and were glad we did! There was a huge excitement on our faces.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
My Children fees has been a huge challenge for me, most especially the ones that were to write the national exam. It was always my prayer for God to help me pay their fees in full so that they will be focused and not distracted and worried about me paying their fees, and I'm grateful to God for Give Directly who have lifted such burden from me. Secondly, I have been a house wife for years, always looking up to my husband for everything. The only support I could give as a woman was house chores, and the farm work. This bothered me too, knowing fully well that when I needed something urgently and my husband don't have it at the moment I will have to forgo it or wait. I'm again grateful to God for Give Directly, I have a business of my own now, at last I will have something to bring to the table too as a wife. I'm overwhelmed with joy! I'm grateful to God for such an opportunity.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
A huge portion of my transfer was spent on my Children fees, most especially the bigger ones who were writing WASSCE. The remaining money was used to start a new business ( Selling Dry fish).

What does receiving this money mean to you?
When I'm qualifie to receive any money from GiveDirectly on this program I am going to build my house and support my children in school so that tomorrow I will be able to tell people that GiveDirectly came to Liberia and give us money this is what I was able to do with my own.
What is the happiest part of your day?
In the last six months I have not had any joy or happiness because I don't have money but upon heading about GiveDirectly people and the kind of help that they are doing for poor families around Liberia and seen you people talking to me had brought great joy and happiness because even the phone alone is a free gift so am over joy today in a very long time today had been a day in my life to experience joy like this.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My current challenge right now is money problem, I do not have money to do thing that I want only the farming but at times when you plant the crops can't grow well and even when you send your goods to Monrovia to sell the people with eat your money so my main challenge for now is money problem.
