Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My main aim in life at the moment is to finish building a house for my family. I am planning to cement the floor and fix the windows. When I am through with this, I will fix the ceiling and paint the walls so that it will be more appealing.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now own a motorcycle and I have hired one of the youths in our village to operate it. He gives me KES 300 daily after fueling it and paying himself hence making this my daily income. Due to this, I am now able to pay school fees for my children without many struggles. Also, I have been able to improve my farming practices since I get more time to attend to my farm and this has led to food security in my family.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, my life will have changed in that my family will be living in a spacious and more permanent house. I will have finished furnishing the house I am currently building and I believe that we will have started living in it. Also, I believe that I will have cleared paying this year's school fees for my children. This will enable them to concentrate more on their studies, have more time for their revision and attend all classes since they will not be sent back home for school fees. Clearing their school fees for this year will enable me to have enough time to look for next year's fees.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that these transfers have enabled me and my wife to buy a young bull and a heifer of which could not be possible.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect to be more financially stable and take my kids to good private schools.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently different because there is reduced labor work and more bonding time with my family.Earlier we could spent more hours doing casual labor and hence came back home late but this has significantly reduced with these transfers.
Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
I am planning to plaster and paint my house and buy good furniture.I also intend to increase potato farming by hiring a piece of land.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I have been desiring to increase the size of land under cultivation but due to lack of enough money, I have not fulfilled it and that has been the biggest hardship I have faced in life. The money I get from farming is not enough to cater for the needs of my family and to lease another land.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the mornig because seeing a new day is a privilege and I thank God for it.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I am planning to spend my transfer to buy a cow.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
Even though I am yet to complete the house I am building, I feel proud to the extent I have done. I have managed to build it through the savings I got from farming where I plant plant potatoes, beans and maize and I am proud of that.
