How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is changing in that, I'm soon commencing with the construction of my permanent house. In the past, I found it burdensome and costly to renovate the thatched house I live in bi-annually. This is because, the thatch material was rare and expensive.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
According to me, GiveDirectly has done well by giving me unconditional cash transfers. There is nothing bad that it has done.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I have used my second transfer to buy iron sheets, timber, nails and for transport.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The significant difference in my daily life is that my children dress decently. We have solar as a main source of lighting at home. I am happy that I also paid off an old debt thus reclaiming my farm land. Prior to receiving the cash transfer, my children were dressed in old tattered clothes, we had no main source of lighting at night. We had small torches which were not reliable. I thank GiveDirectly for transforming my household. Long live GiveDirectly.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I woke up at 03:00am only to check my phone and , "wow". I could not believe the message I read. "It read, You have received UGX 1730250 from GiveDirectly." I was overwhelmed with happiness. I could not sleep anymore. It was a very big blessing that an anonymous donor had sent his/ her hard earned money to help me.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my cash transfer to purchase bricks worth UGX 900000 and I paid a loan worth UGX 500000. I purchased a solar system worth UGX 100000 and household items such as clothes, utensils, bedding worth UGX 200000.
