How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life before receiving GiveDirectly's transfers was demeaning because when my marriage failed, I decided to return home to my parents. I never had a house for shelter but lucky enough my brother surrendered his to me and my children slept in a kitchen. It was so shameful in the sense that there was back and forth transfer of children's beddings from the kitchen to my room daily to create room for cooking. Secondly, my brothers reproduced many children and there wasn't enough land to cultivate. I lived a beggar's life for where to farm. Currently, My life is at peace because I managed to put up a permanent structure of two rooms (bedroom and sitting room). My children have occupied the iron roofed house and no more suffering of carrying beddings on daily basis. In addition, I managed to hire farmland for cultivation meaning that I no longer have to beg for gardens. In conclusion, I want to thank GiveDirectly for elevating me from the bad conditions I lived in to the level I'm in right now. if there was a way I could set my eyes on the donors who showed much love to me, I don't know how I will express my happiness unto them.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly in my opinion has done a very good to uplift us from abject poverty. The transfers helped me construct a house, pay school fees and hire farmland. There is nothing wrong done by GD.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spend it on paying school fees, Completed the house I began with the first transfer and the remaining money I will spend on acquiring livestock.
