How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Currently, my life is different from how it was in that I have managed to accomplish some of the goals that I never thought I could reach. First and foremost, I was able to buy cooking gas. Preparing meals has been faster unlike before. I have also been able to chip on my brother's medical bills which I could not have managed before.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal is to establish my home. Currently, I stay in my parent inlaw's place but I fee that I should have my own place where I can have my own freedom to do things my own way.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is giving a helping hand to my brother who has been sick for a very long time now. I managed to spend a large portion of my transfer on his medical bill. I only hope that he gets well soon. I have peace of mind knowing that I did the right thing to support him at this time that he needs it so much.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My expectation in the next six months is to have established my home. I have been working towards this because I want to stay in a place where I can have freedom of doing things my way. I have enjoyed staying in my parent inlaw's compound but I feel that it is time to move out.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I did not know where to get money to service the One Acre Fund loan which I obtained to help me in planting season and I was afraid of loosing my properties to them. I am grateful to Give Directly for saving me in this.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I would want to buy iron sheet to put up our home.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I was able to pay for my brother's medical bills in time, I was able to service the loan in time and I also paid school fees in time so my children were never out of school for the same.
Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
Currently I do not have new goal.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I face right now is lack of enough money to establish my homestead. My spouse is the eldest son and in our culture he has reached an age when he is expected to move out of father's homestead and then his younger brothers follow suit. Due to the fact that we are unable to do so means we are hindering his younger brothers from also establishing their own homesteads.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is the evenings when I am through with the day's chores. I often get to spend time with my family members as we tell stories which are often very funny.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I am planning to use the money to establish my own homestead therefore I will need to buy building materials like sand, cement, iron roofing sheets, nails, timber, barbed wire and cedar poles. The remaining funds will be used to pay workers who will carry out the actual building.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
My proudest achievement is having saved enough money from my business and bought a bull. I later gave the bull to my spouse who used it to pay my dowry. Seeing the look on my parents that day made me feel very proud.
