How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
When the FOs came to my house during census enrollment, my family had nothing to show as my possession, but now I am able to say that I have welding work shop that gives me good income, my wife is also has fish business and our economic status has improved. I was like a beggar with nothing to show, but now I have got good income.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
To I personally, the organization has transformed my life. Our people have made step in their economic wellbeing and I do appreciate the work of GD. Everybody has got equal chance to access the given resources. GiveDirectly should incorporate the local churches during sensitization at the grassroot level. Faith organization has got influence to the followers and they are the major decision makers in our society. Neglecting them or giving them second priority, will result to high rate of refusals as it was witnessed in Muhoroni.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer on school fees, Television set, and DVD machine. I received my second transfer when my son was to join Secondary school, but I was empty handed. I therefore spent the bigger percentage of the last transfer on fees and son is now in class without trouble. I love football and there was no way I could satisfy my desire of foot ball and there was no TV in the house. Now I can watch football at the comfort of my room.
