How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I needed money to complete my house project. Hence, I bought building materials such as zinc, planks, nails etc... with my recent transfer. Furthermore, I bought 5 gallons of gasoline to saw enough wood for the roof of my house. My life has immensely improved within the last couple of months. Thanks to GD for playing a leading role in transforming my life.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
First of all, I am so delighted and very much grateful to have benefited from this program initiated by GiveDirectly. From my own judgement, GD has been fair in all they do. All of their undertakings thus far has been awesome.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I was in dire need of money to complete my house project. Therefore, as soon as I received my transfer, I bought 3 more bundles of zinc for $31,500LD. I also use portion of my transfer to purchase 2 cartons of zinc nails and mixed nails for the roof of my house. My balance transfer was used to buy gasoline and pay sawyer to produce enough planks for my new house. A big thanks to the entire team at GD for helping transform my life.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My new goal that i have for this my second transfer I'm going to finish with my house. I just bought my last zinc and fews bags of cement. I give the guys who is going to build my house workmanship.I even thinking of starting a new business to help me and my family.my long awaited dream is about to come to reality. I been wishing to build a zinc house for my children.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my own opinion GiveDirectly has done a great changes in my life.I was someone who was not even thinking of building a house for my children. givedirectly has changes my life from poor person to second class person.

Huge of my transfer was spent on my house project. As a father of four kids their school fees has been a major challenge for me. I just pay all of them school fee along with some school material. Some was also spent on provision for the house as well.

I used my first transfer on household materials like mattresses, dishes, clothes for family members.My new goal is to buy construction materials and build a new house, Because my old house is cover with thatch and is seriously damaged and leaking.Thanks Givedirectly for the future empowerment.

Thanks to Givedirectly for making me a great person in my community. This money brought happiness in my household.Becaus, since in Liberia, this is the very first time receiving a fair organisation in my community.What was little hard was getting the money from a distance which is the cash out event.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was cleaning up my yard that morning when my phone alarmed. My daughter ran for the phone and brought it to me. Upon reading the message,only to know it was a massage from Givedirectly that i have received the some of $40375. I was very astonished! Seeing myself handling such amount of money. I told my wife Givedirectly can't lie they stands by their promised. I believe God has finally answer my prayers. Life has not been fear to me at all. With the help of Givedirectly program my soul has found complete happiness. I can now build my own house and give my family the best life they need.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
My life is changing gradually through the help of Givedirectly. God has given us his blessing through Givedirectly. Life has been difficult for my family and I. I have been a volunteer teacher for the past ten years now. I have two daughter's that are staying in Monrovia with my elder sister. Each of their tuitions cost $34.000 Liberian dollar a year. Getting food for my family daily consumption has been very difficult for me. I make rice and cassava farm but, unfortunately this year, the rice didn't produce well because animals ate all the rice from under it. One of the saddest part of life is sleeping in a single room with my kids. I feel bad when my children come from Monrovia for visit, they have to sleep with other family members. This has brought so many issue within my family. I was on my way to the next village to get some tech for my house and the town chief called for meeting .Am grateful to Givedirectly for and the almighty God for opportunity given to us.

I bought two bundle of zinc at the rate of $10,000 Liberian dollars to build my kitchen first. I used portion of the transfer to pay my daughter's in Monrovia school fees. Some of the money was used for my sister burial. The balance money was used to buy food and pay people to cut stakes for my project.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I will build another house and ues portion of the money to invest it into agriculture and pay my children school fees.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I felt very happy this gone July when the Geedeh Town Public School surprising gives me seven thousand five hundred Liberian dollar ($7,500) as appreciation. I also received one thousand two hundred Liberian dollar ($1,200) from some of my players who I'm coaching. It really brought joy and relief to me and my family because I didn't have any food, so I bought food for my home and we enjoy our independence celebration.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My major challenge is money and secondly farm didn't produce this year because my sister passed out and went fir her burial in Monrovia . While attending sister's funeral the animals destroy everything that I planted on the farm.
