How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has changed because I acquired a bed and a mattress. I now sleep comfortably as opposed to before when I slept on a plastic bag and covered with a light clothe. In addition, I also acquired a cow which I'm rearing for milk production and incase the number multiplies in future, I can sell some of the cattle to meet my basic needs. Previously I never own a cow.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done well by giving me money for acquiring some of the items I never ownedwhat like a cow and a mattress. GiveDirectly has not done anything wrong.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I rented farm land and saved the balance of the transfer for building a permanent house and stocking food in preparation for famine.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My life is healthier because I can afford to have all meals in a day. I also acquired a mattress and a pair of bed sheets which is makes me sleep more comfortably at night. Before this transfer, I was malnourished and I slept on a mat.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt very happy because got financial support from GiveDirectly which has enabled me to buy a mattress and pair of bed sheets which I never had.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I bought clothing/ household goods( mattress, bed sheets and utensils) worth UGX 125,000, food (cassava flour) worth UGX 50,000, transport worth UGX 14000, treatment worth UGX 30,000, paid debt worth UGX 230,000. There is a balance of 1,200,000 which I'm planning to spend on purchasing Livestock (cow).

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to build an iron roofed house. Grass has become so scarse and expensive to buy and this makes maintaining a grass thatched house hard. I will also buy a cow that can provide for me milk and if there is still some bance left, buy a piece of land that I can caltivate.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when I have had supper. At this time, I am able to evaluate myself and give credit where necessary based on my day's work.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is famine. The piece of land that I own is too small to support cultivation and as a result, I get low yields that can not take care of my household needs. It is therefore common for me spend time doing casual labour just to find something to eat.
