In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly is doing well by giving us this funds. I like the fact that they provided the funds equally to all of us enrolled in the program and despite calling and some of us not responding, they follow up on us at home. Its encouraging that they want to make sure that we all benefit from the support program.I have not yet seen anything that GiveDirectly is not doing well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
My recent transfer was used to pay back money had borrowed earlier. My brother and sister who are twins had school arrears and they were told they will not sit for their exams .Upon receiving that message I borrowed KES 3500 from a friend and together with what I had from my casual job I paid for them as my father followed up on their bursary for both of them to resume their classes. As soon as I got the transfers I didn't even withdraw the cash but paid directly to my friend.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When I received the transfer, I felt good. I did not have any money and had completed the work I came to do in Nairobi. I had been in Nairobi for 4 days before the transfer came in and I was glad I now had money to pay for my transport.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
At home, the chicken we have are doing well and continue to grow. I can even sell some and use the proceeds to buy more chicken or to buy feeds. I am now in a position to buy their medicine as well. All thanks to the transfer from GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
When I received the transfer, I was in Nairobi. I had travel to the city to do some work. At that time, I did not have any money and needed to figure out a way of paying for my transport back to the coast. Needless say, the money was timely and I was able to get back home. My younger brother owns chicken; with part of the transfer, I bought feeds for the chicken. The remaining amount I saved for future use would it be needed or in case of any emergencies.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Would wish to venture into goat keeping. With KES 3000, I will be able to buy a goat each month. Since I work as a Boda Boda rider within the village, I have ample time to take care of them without seeking the help of an employed shepherd.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I have been training in photography through acquaintance. A friend of mine welcomed me to do video coverage of a wedding function and I did superb work. The excellent performance made my day. Since then he has been frequently calling me to accompany him for more video shootings.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Presently am challenged by a Lack of a stable source of income. There is no casual job have not tried in my life. I went to town but life was not favorable. Earning KES 300 a day, I could not pay rent, food as well as send some cash back home. Returning to the village, I was employed as a Boda Boda rider but since the motorbike was acquired on credit, it was salvaged back to the owners after failing to pay for quite some time. Currently am idling without any job in particular.
