How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My goal is to rebuild the house I am living in right now, before GiveDirectly came to help us, it was my dream to do it but because of financial challenges, I couldn't do it. My house has been in a bad condition for some years now and it's embarrassing in so many ways, now that I have the opportunity to do it, I will use my transfers from GiveDirectly to make this dream come true.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well by helping us unconditionally without any strain being attached to it, they are also kind and patient with recipients, that is, anytime we are not available for an interview, they do their best to always revisit us until we get to be interviewed. I don't know of anything that GiveDirectly is not doing well, everything is fine in my opinion.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used my more recent transfer to buy some building materials for my house project, I also bought some equipment for my farming process, I bought food also for my family and the remaining amount is being saved.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
"What I plan to do with my cash transfer are, to build my own house, and to send my children to school, reason being, my family size is growing, and where we stay currently is a family house, anytime my siblings can come to stay, which might cause serious embarrassment due to limited sleeping space. And I also don't want my children to experience what they've experienced in time pass, where in they were sent home for three weeks due to the lack of school fees. We make farm and burn charcoal/fire coal for living, but sometimes these activities don't earn much to support the home, not to talk about starting our building project."
What is the happiest part of your day?
"What brought me joy in the last six months was, the wedding ceremony of my mother, our parents should be the ones to play the exemplary role for us the children to follow, I being married and my mother being singled was somehow embarrassing, but this ceremony brought me so much happiness."
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
"Those challenges we are currently faced with are, firstly, to have my house being built, secondly, sending my children to school, and lastly, to have the family being fed daily; We have two income generating activities which are, 'burning coal, and planting crops', there is no good job to earn us finance, when we farm, the little produce we generate is what we sell, plus the coal that we burn, but these things are seasonal, the little cash we generate from these activities is what we can manage to support the home, like sending the children to school, feeding and attending to other needs, but after satisfying these demands, there can be nothing much left for our building project."
