Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal for the next four months is to start beans business. I have realised in my area, very few people sell beans and they sell it at a high cost. I would also want to take advantage of the unsaturated market so that I can benefit myself from the profits. If all goes well, I may be able to venture into the business too as a way of boosting my income.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I have always depended on farming as my main source of income. This is because I have never had the resources to start a business nor get well educated to get a good job. In the previous years, I have not managed to get a good harvest because I have always used the same plots over the years. I have only been using cow dung as a way of boosting the soil fertility but it has not been effective. When I started getting my transfers, I decided to use part of it to buy fertilizers and hybrid seeds and I have to admit there is a big difference in my life since then. My harvest has increased from the 3 sacks I used to get to 7 sacks now. This has helped me in feeding my family because we rarely run out of what to eat in the house. When I am in a financial crisis, I am able to sell some to raise money for the issue.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My life will be different in the next six months in that I will have enough food. This is because I am investing more in my farming activity as a way of ensuring food security for my family. I will still continue buying farm inputs so that I may continue getting a good harvest which has really brought a lot of difference in my life because I only budget for food on a monthly basis unlike before. At the end of this year's long rains season, I know I will get a good harvest which I will sell some to raise some money to start the business. I know at the end of the year, I will never be the same as I have always been in the past years.
