How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Currently, my children are in school as I was able to pay their school fees in time. With the transfers, they are hardly sent home to clear any outstanding fee balances as I make it a habit settle that as soon as I receive the transfers. This has quite given them ample time to concentrate on their studies. I have also managed to expand on my farming which has seen us increase the levels of our harvest. We bought hybrid maize seeds for planting, fertilizer to boost the growth of the maize and also paid casual labourers to work in my farms too.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I have an additional goal of starting up a business to help in the generation of income for us.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I have acquired livestock for rearing as a form of financial security for my family. I was able to save some few transfers which I used to buy goats and a cow to start off the livestock rearing project. This is something I have always wanted to venture into but due to the meagre income I earned from casual work, I could not because it catered to other needs of the family. My family can now rest assured that when we are faced with any financial constraints, we will not go about borrowing money from any relative or friend.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
By that time, my business will be up and running as I would have saved and set it up. I expect to be generating income for the family so that our lives can have a change. I also expect to save and buy household items like a sofa seat to help furnish my house. This will make my home beautiful and comfortable to be in.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
In the last four months, I have been eating well with my fam8ily because of GD transfers. I don't strain anymore to get food to feed my family because I budget well with GD transfers.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months, I wish to buy a cow for rearing. This will be an investment which I can later sell to raise money to handle other family needs.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I used my transfer to buy building materials which I used to build a house. I used to live in a grass thatched house, was very small and could not accommodate my family well. I was not happy with it hence I decided to save and buy building materials to build the new house.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I would want to buy household items such as utensils which I do not have in my house.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Ever since I started receiving these transfers, I have been eating well. I used to really struggle to feed my family because I used to have a little income from my farm. I would harvest very little because I had used my farm year in year out to an extent that the soil was not productive anymore. When I started using fertilizers and hybrid seeds, I have been getting a good harvest to help me feed my family well and even a surplus to sell.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the four months, I would wish to buy hybrid seeds and fertilizer which I want to use on my farm. I know when I do this I will get a good harvest to help me feed my family and raise extra cash to buy other household needs by selling part of my harvest.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my life since I started receiving these transfers is that I have a new house. I have been struggling to traise money to buy building materials but it was not possible due to low incoime from farming. I wholly depended on my farm for survival and in most cases, I would get very little to even feed my family. With GD transfers, I have been able to buy building materials such as iron sheets, nails and timber which I have used to build a new house.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next four months, I want to save and buy a cow. With this cow, I would be able to get milk when it reproduces and sell some milk to raise a little income to sustain my family needs. Whenever I have a difficult situation, I can sell its offspring to raise money to handle such matters in the family.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was before because I do not miss a meal anymore unlike before missing a meal was a norm in my household as we were not guaranteed a meal. We anticipate to live in a better and more spacious house once construction is over. This will bring much joy in my family.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I am currently planning to start a small kiosk at my home to help me generate income for my family. This will support my families's needs besides other casual jobs that I do to osupport my family.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference is that I currently get enough food for my family on a daily basis. This was a major problem in my family we lived hand to mouth and at times we went without food. Thanks to GD we do not go a day without a meal. Besides that, I have also bought building materials to build my family a better and spacious house. The one we live in currently is small and also not in good shape as it leaks when it rains.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect to be living in a spacious house and my family will have an income to support us from the kiosk which by then I am hopeful it will have picked up well. The health of my children will have as well improved given that they will have a balance diet food something that we could not afford before and my children were malnourished. I anticipate living a better life than before come the next six months thanks to GD's support.

Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
I have a new goal of buying a cow for rearing and also to open a business. I've always longed to own business and a cow but I didn't have the means of achieving them but now that I'm sure of receiving money monthly from GiveDirectly, I believ after I have built a house I'll achieve the two goals.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently different from the way it would have been if I did not receive the money in that had I not receive the money by now I wouldn't be having the hopes of owning an iron roof house in my life.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect to have completed building an iron roof house and own a business so that I can have a source of income.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving the money is the happiness I have knowing that every month I'm able to buy a few pieces of iron sheets that I'll use in a few months time to build an iron sheet house. I have been rained on for many years without any a solution because we do not have a reliable income to afford iron roof house.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced is living in a leaky thatched house. It always forces us to assemble with all our items in a particular corner of the house where it does not leak. This is stressful because it interrupts our sleep during rainy nights.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning because the cool weather is conducive and I am always more productive in my farm.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I am planning to spend my transfer on buying house construction materials ( iron-sheets, nails, timber, cement, sand) to build a semi-permanent house. I will also spend the remaining transfer on paying school fees and starting maize selling business.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
My greatest achievement was harvesting two bags of maize last season which was the best I have ever produced from my farm. This came as a result of using local manure on my farm. With the two bags, I was able to consume one bag with my family and sold the other bag to pay my child's secondary school fees.
