How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is now different than it would have been. This is because using these transfers I was able to construct a modern two roomed and Iron roofed house. My kid who was very sick was able to access medication too. I furnished my house with a two seater sofa, fed and clothed my family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GD does everything well because it's through these transfers that I was able to upgrade my grass thatched roof house to a modern iron roofed house.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent 80 dollars on a two seater sofa's and 430 dollars on payment of hospital bills for my kid who was very sick at that moment.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the money,I felt that my life has changed completely. I saw an opportunity to replace my old cow with a good heifer. This is because I have been getting many benefits from milk production. We use some of the milk at home and the rest is old to supplement other household needs.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the house improvement that I made by extending a new wing of two rooms in my house. I had a small one that alongside a grass thatched mud house. It was not enough for my family . The expansion made it spacious enough for all of us and also looks very nice. I am happy to live in such a goof house. My children are very proud of their home.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent the first transfer on acquiring a dairy cow. I used a part of it on building a house. I made a new wing extending from the small one that I had been living in. I then demolished an old grass thatched house that doubled up as a kitchen and a place for the children to sleep In. I finally bought foodstuffs and clothes for all of us in the family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money will enable me to complete constructing my house which i have built it half way. My two children will be joining college in two months time thus this money has also come in handy to support me in paying their first school fees. I also plan to buy a 1000 litre water tank for harvesting clean water in my homestead during rainy seasons
What is the happiest part of your day?
Whenever i manage to get jobs to do during the day, coming back home with food for my family makes evening the happiest part of my day
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Unreliable source of income has been the biggest hardship i face. I work in people's farms and whenever i manage to secure menial jobs to do, i spend all the money in buying food for the family. Sometimes i am forced to borrow money to support the needs of my family hence i have outstanding debts to pay from my neighbours and friends, something that has deprived me my dignity whenever i walk around the village.
