Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy the moment I received money from GiveDirectly. I have been struggling to accumulate enough capital and buy a milk dispenser that would improve my business. The little income that I got from my small business was just enough to feed my family and it waould have taken me a little longer time before I could accumulate enough money to buy the machine.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the early actualization of my dream-purchasing of a milk dispencer. This would guarantee me of a steady source of income and an increased one too since I will be doing a larger scale of the business that I am currently running. I will no longer be making losses despite dealing with a very perishable commodity since the machine will see me sell milk for up to a duration of two or more days.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I saved all of my KES 55000 as I wait for the next and last transfe. I am doing this since I want to accomplish a dream that I have always had- that of buying an automatic milk dispenser and a cooling plant. This would greatly improve my business and raise the income that I get from it and raise the living standards of my family as well. I have been doing the milk business and have identified this gap in the market. However, the little income that I get from this small business was hardly enough to enable me buy the much needed machine. I am looking forward to receiving the second transfer and buying this machine to improve my business.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have been yearning to start my own business of buying and selling milk. I have been planning to buy a milk dispensing machine which I will use to sell milk. Therefore, receiving this money means I will be able to start my own business.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My day starts at around 8 whereby I go looking for any casual work to do at the nearby village but nothing lightens my day more than seeing a new day. Therefore, the happiest part of my day is in the morning.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Since I finished university in 2018, I have been unable to raise funds/finance to start my own business. I have been working as a casual labourer to raise enough money to buy milk dispensing machine but in vain and thus facing hardship in life.
